How do your services differ from your competitors?
We uniquely offer one-on-one coaching as the foundation of every individual program. We find that people in transition require in-depth personal coaching from seasoned professionals in order to truly appreciate their strengths and potential and secure the most desirable positions. This coaching — combined with our marketing-centered approach, fully customizable solutions, and broad expertise — distinguishes The Brighton Group from other outplacement firms.


We've always done outplacement in-house. Why should we go to the expense of hiring an outside firm?
An outside firm brings objectivity, experience, and dedicated focus that can improve employee morale, maintain your positive reputation, and protect your company's legal interests. Typically, human resources departments don't have the domain expertise, time, or staff to manage outplacement programs with minimal disruption and maximum benefits.

For fifteen years, we've served many leading clients in the Pacific Northwest, including DHL Express, Nintendo of America Inc., Philips Medical Systems, QWEST, Safeco, World Vision, and ZymoGenetics.


What geographical areas do you serve?
We support clients throughout the Pacific Northwest from our offices in Seattle, Spokane, and Tacoma, Washington. With the support of 170 OI Partners offices in 30 countries worldwide, we can manage your outplacement projects in virtually any location.


What additional outplacement services do you offer besides one-on-one coaching?
We feel it is important for employees in transition to take advantage of group activities — including biweekly networking groups, senior roundtable meetings, and entrepreneurial seminars — and skills development activities such as video interviewing. Individuals also have access to an online career center, OiSolutions, which provides job postings, career research databases, and career management tools.


How do you determine what level of program is most appropriate for various employees in my organization?
A rule of thumb in the outplacement industry is that every $10,000 in salary equates to one month of job search. For example, if an individual's salary is $90,000, it will take approximately nine months for that person to locate his or her next career opportunity. What we recommend, therefore, is that your organization provide an outplacement program that will support the length of time it takes for the job search process for each impacted employee. It is also important to consider the number of years each individual has been employed with the organization, his or her age, and skill set.


When organizations are downsizing, being acquired, or merging, how does The Brighton Group support the human resources team?
We work with our clients early in the process to define a solution that fits within their corporate culture and empowers individuals in transition, as well as those remaining in the organization. Specifically, we can provide transition consulting, which includes assistance with all forms of communication to employees and managers, staging of meetings, training of managers, and on-site assistance the day of the announcement. We then debrief with the HR team to determine any outstanding issues and begin scheduling career coaching sessions with impacted employees.


What other services do you offer beyond outplacement?
Our transition consulting services assist human resources teams with workforce reduction planning, on-site transition support, and change management to address the concerns of managers and employees in the midst of significant organizational change. Our leadership development programs include executive coaching, development coaching, and performance coaching.
